Force Branch Work Item Permission

OVERVIEW

Enabling the “Force Branch Work Item Permission” will automatically check the Branch checkbox, thus requiring users to create a branch of the item in a higher version before making any modifications. For items that are branched into a higher version, any changes made will not be reflected in the older versions.

If the option is not chosen, users have the flexibility to either save their changes to the previous version or create a new branch.

HOW TO ENABLE/DISABLE FORCE BRANCH WORK ITEM PERMISSION:

To activate or deactivate the “Force Branch Work Item” permission, users should follow these straightforward steps:

Navigate to “Users & Groups” in Admin and select “Groups” (Ensure the correct group is chosen, one that is associated with the intended project and user).
Click the “View” icon next to the group whose permission you wish to modify.
Go to the “Work Item Permissions” tab.
Choose the specific work item from the list provided. For example, “Test Case.”
To enforce the permission, tick the box for the “Force Branch Test Case” option.
To revoke the permission, simply untick the box for the “Force Branch Test Case” option.

Note: User needs to re-login to apply the changes to his session.
